Brahms - Piano Sonata No. 3
At the time a very young Johannes Brahms set about composing his third piano sonata, the genre was by many already considered to be obsolete. Undeterred by contemporary fashions, Brahms wrote a beautiful sonata of unparalleled scope, running to almost 40 minutes and comprising five parts instead of the standard four. This sonata was his last in a trilogy.
